Louwtjie and Ria Mellet are part of the Vaalharts Farming community since the late 1970’s where they raised their four children. They’ve farmed with cash crops until 1990 when they gradually moved towards more permanent crops by planting a variety of stone fruit and later pecan nuts.
Young pecan nut trees weren’t readily available in Vaalharts and by growing their own seedlings, they could supply in their own demand. From small beginnings the nursery grew and they supply to national and international farmers.
Because they know what effort it takes to grow a young pecan nut tree into a bearing tree, they know the importance of excellent quality trees.
